We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Produce Department Head to lead and manage our produce department. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality fresh products, maintaining an organized and visually appealing department, and delivering an excellent shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Order and maintain appropriate levels of fresh produce inventory

• Inspect deliveries for quality, freshness, and accuracy

• Rotate, sort, and stock produce items daily

• Maintain attractive, well-merchandised displays that drive sales

• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the produce floor and cooler

• Prepare and cut fresh fruit daily for display and sale

• Monitor shrink and minimize waste through proper handling

• Maintain proper food safety and sanitation standards

• Provide friendly customer service and assist shoppers as needed

  Qualifications

  • Previous experience in produce, grocery, or retail management preferred

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge of produce handling, rotation, and merchandising is a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Greeting each customer with, “Good (morning, afternoon, evening)! Engaging in appropriate conversations with customers and thanking them for choosing to shop with us
• Wrapping meat according to specifications using manual machines
• Using the scale to weigh and label items
• Stocking cases and displays to maintain a fresh and full appearance
• Rotating product on the sales floor and in the cooler and freezer by date and taking appropriate action
• Completing price changes, including re-wrapping, relabeling and sign changes
• Understanding the store layout to easily locate products for customers
• Completing assigned daily cleaning and sanitation procedures
• Maintaining a professional personal brand representation in the proper Veron’s uniform
• Reporting to work on time and as scheduled
• Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED (or pursuing)

Able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen

Physical Requirements:

Able to stand for extended periods of time

Able to distinguish product quality and freshness standards

Able to stoop, squat, reach and maneuver to move product, boxes, bags, shelving, carts and equipment.

Reliable transportation.

• Resolve customer concerns or direct them to the appropriate department
• Adhere to store policies and procedures, including those related to safety and cleanliness

Requirements:

• Previous cashier or retail experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and basic math skills
• Flexibility to work various shifts (3 per week), including evenings and weekends
• Primary shifts are M-F (3:00 PM -7:00 PM), SAT (7:00 AM - 1:00 PM) (1:00 PM - 7:00 PM,) SUN (7:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
